Clarity Basics

Do you, like others, want more clarity on who you are, what you want, how to get what you want and to know what you actually find meaningful and fulfilling? If the trajectory of your life is not what you expected, sometimes stuckness ensues. If that is the case, the good news is that you can generate a new reality or a new clarity. Does it happen magically? No, which is good because then you would have to sit with your life on hold waiting for a fairy or a lightening bolt from the magic of God to give you clarity. Beginning clarity is generated from within you. You can generate it by doing your own research on your life.

Ask yourself questions.

  • What do I find life giving currently?
  • What have I liked in the past?
  • What do I know about who I am?
  • What do I know for sure I don’t like?
  • What do I value and how can that dovetail into what I might want to do?
  • What are my gifts?
  • What are my strengths and challenges?
  • What makes me comfortable?
  • What makes me uncomfortable (a place of growth)?

Brendon Burchard says, “Clarity is the child of careful thought and mindful experimentation.” Look through your opportunities right now. Look at what might be right for you. Try out some avenues of life that you have dreamt of before but did not try. If you have not already got plans, make some now. Craft some goals. Put deadlines on yourself. Make plans for accountability such as with a coach or accountability partner. The plan with deadlines and accountability means that you have more then twice as much likelihood that you will achieve your dreams. Know how to get what you want in your goals. If you need knowledge education, or skill education, make a plan for it. Know what you need to master in the future in order to get where you need to go. Remind yourself you can course correct if it works out it is not for you. Being clear on the answers to these questions is correlated to a positive self esteem. Conversely, a lack of clarity of who you are is correlated to neuroticism and negative emotions. I know so many clients who have waited years and do nothing with their lives. What a waste. Never wait to pursue a dream or to give value to the world out of fears such as “what if it is not right for me?”, or more likely, “What if I am not good enough?”. Begin letting yourself be good enough today. Your life is a gift. Treat it as such. Looking at the goal setting blog might be helpful to you. Go forth in this and Live Fully!
